Gatwick criticises data and analysis used in Airports Commission’s report and says it is writing to David Cameron to complain Gatwick has challenged the Airports Commission’s backing for Heathrow expansion by denouncing its report as unfair and flawed. LONDON, July 14 (Reuters) - London's Gatwick Airport said it was still in contention to be chosen as the site for a much-needed new runway in southeast England, dismissing a report recommending expansion at Heathrow as flawed and stoking a political battle The chairman of Gatwick has launched a scathing attack on the Airports Commission, claiming its recommendation for a third runway at Heathrow is “flawed” because it is based on out-of-date of traffic forecasts and unsound economic forecasts. Gatwick Airport has said the Airport Commission's decision to recommend a new runway for rival Heathrow was "wrong" but has stopped short of launching a legal battle for the time being. Earlier this month the commission gave the green light for a third Gatwick today accused the Airports Commission of “largely glossing over” noise blight from a third runway at Heathrow after it backed the development at the west London airport.
